Ambleside Sports Vision is a collaboration between West Vancouver Soccer Club, West Vancouver Field Hockey Club and the District of West Vancouver to maintain, improve and build field sports facilities at Ambleside Park. With the fulfillment of this vision, it is hoped that Ambleside Park will become one of the premier community sports facilities in the region.
In June 2010, construction of new turf field facilities at Ambleside began. In 2011, a second phase of the project will bring significant upgrades and long overdue improvements to the existing field house facilities for sports groups.
Generous financial support of the District of West Vancouver, the federal and provincial governments enabled construction to begin. West Van soccer and field hockey clubs have committed to raise $1.5 million from community donations to support the project. So far, North Shore field sports supporters have contributed $740,000 to the project. We are counting on continuing financial support from the community in order to complete the project.
December 14th, 2010 Update
Members of the West Van Field Hockey Facilities Society and the West Van Soccer Club presented cheques to the District of West Vancouver totalling $270,000 on Sept 30 . The project continues with a new field and warm-up pads expected to be ready in 2011, as well as a renovated fieldhouse. See www.amblesidesportsvision.com for more info.
